There’s something sacred about writing stories that reflect real life—messy, broken, hopeful, redemptive. But there’s something even more beautiful about not doing it alone.
That’s what being part of the Our House series has meant to me.
First with Our House on Sycamore Street, and now with the upcoming Our House on Heather Wynd, I’ve had the absolute joy of linking arms with an incredible group of Christian authors to tell stories that connect—not just by location, but by heart.
Each book is written by a different author. Each one stands alone. And yet, they all live in the same little world—a shared neighborhood where pain meets purpose and broken things are lovingly mended by God’s grace.
What It’s Really Like Behind the Scenes
Working on a series like this is a little like being part of a book club and a prayer circle and a writer’s retreat—all rolled into one.
We brainstorm together. We pray for each other. We support each other when words aren’t flowing and celebrate when stories come alive.
Even though we each write our own books with our own voices and characters, there’s a beautiful synergy in knowing our stories sit side by side on the same “street.” It’s a reminder that, just like in real life, our lives intersect. Our pain echoes. And healing isn’t always a solo journey.
The Joy of Collaboration
As a writer, I’m usually in my own head—writing in quiet corners, dreaming about characters only I know. But writing as part of a series has reminded me how much joy there is in community. I’ve learned from these other authors. I’ve been cheered on by them. And most of all, I’ve felt seen—not just as a writer, but as a woman of faith on her own journey.
We each bring something different to the table. Some of us write suspense. Others write sweet romance. Some of us are drawn to broken families or prodigal daughters or unlikely second chances. But we’re united by the same desire: to tell stories that lead people back to the heart of God.
What’s Next: The Freelancer’s Hope
Right now, I’m working on my next contribution to the series—The Freelancer’s Hope—set on Heather Wynd. It follows a woman who’s lost everything: her job, her voice, and the faith she used to lean on. She thinks she’s come to Heather Wynd to escape. But maybe, just maybe, she’s come to be found.
I can’t wait to share more with you soon.
Why These Stories Matter
Being part of the Our House series has reminded me that faith-filled fiction matters. That collaboration is kingdom work. And that somewhere in the pages of a story—someone might find the courage to believe again.
If you’ve read any of the Sycamore Street books, thank you. If you’re excited about Heather Wynd, stay tuned. And if you’ve ever wondered what it’s like to be part of something bigger than yourself… well, this is it.
